Typically an established blog or static website with stats comparative to BloggingTips.com would sell for maybe around 24 times its monthly profits. He more than doubled that number.

Of course, this is a case of blog flipping where the site was built up for a long time before it was sold. But that’s still a lot of money to be deposited into your bank account in one lump sum! You could spend your time building up a few established sites per year with the intent of making money flipping them, and you could easily earn a 6 figure income doing it.

Site flipping is still a very good way to make money online. The market is still strong even in these tough times. It might not quite be as strong as it once was but it hasn’t gone anywhere, and won’t be any time soon. There’s still a lot of opportunity for you to make money online flipping websites and blogs!

There’s actually no easy answer to that question, but I will try to explain my reasoning a little bit here if you’ll bear with me. I’ve flipped many types of web sites. One of my favorite site flipping business models is to write an information product, create a sales letter, establish a couple months of good sales, then flip it for large profit. That’s a great way to make a lot of money flipping websites, so why don’t I recommend you start here?

Well, the reason is because this more elaborate site flipping business model I just described works well for me because I happen to have several key skills that are necessary to do this sort of thing. I have a lot of internet marketing and other online business experience. I can write compelling sales copy and I understand how to create a good product. I’m not bragging, I am just pointing out that there’s quite a lot of experience both online and offline that make this model viable for me. If you have it then, by all means, go for it! But most of the readers of this blog do not have that same level of experience.

However, the typical person who reads this blog does have enough knowledge and experience to build a blog in a hot niche and flip it for profit. And besides the fact that I know you have the skills necessary to build and sell start-up blogs, another great reason for you to do this is the fact that the market is huge!

Blogs are HOT sellers! And rightly so because by their very nature, blogs can easily do what most other, more static websites can’t. For instance, they are easy to update, easy to manage, and when you use WordPress and create new content, it’s very easy for Google to find out about it. Blogs are also naturally interconnected which makes it very easy for the search engine spiders to crawl them. That’s not necessarily the case with a static site.

Another great reason to flip blogs instead of other types of web sites is simply because people love blogs. People associate blogs with quality information that is updated frequently and there’s more interaction on them. Blogs are open and other people can comment on them or even submit guest posts as most owners allow. That fact alone gives your visitors a sense of ownership of your information. They are much more likely to trust information on blogs more than information that comes from static sites.

In addition to all of this, blogs are relatively easy to build and make them look cool. There are a ton of free themes and plug-ins out there that you can use on your blog, which will make your site very functional and give it a very professional, polished look. This helps a lot when you go to flip it because website buyers respond to the visual aspects of sites. A cool looking blog will sell for much more money than a static site with the same information, traffic, and earnings.

So, why flip blogs?

I think I have answered that question well enough above. If you are just getting started then I recommend using blog flipping as your main site flipping business model. But I am not saying you should only flip blogs. Expand your horizons and see what works best for you!

I know, first you had to learn all about flipping blogs and now you have to learn how to export and import WordPress databases. It’s torture, right?! Actually it’s not very difficult if you just follow the steps below.

For these steps I am assuming that your webhost is using cPanel. If not, I recommend you get HostGator because it’s amazing in so many ways!

Let’s start with the Export from your end…

1. Login to cPanel.

2. Find “phpMyAdmin” and click on it.

3. Select the WordPress database of the blog you want to export.

4. Click the “export” tab.

5. Under the “Structure” pane put a check next to “add DROP TABLE” and “add AUTO_INCREMENT value” and “Enclose table and field names with backquotes”

6. Find the “DATA” section and make sure the box next to it is checked. Leave the other sections as they are.

7. In the “Export” pane on the left side there is a box containing all the tables selected for backup. Make sure they are all selected. Also just be sure that the button next to “SQL” is ticked.

8. Mark “Save as file” and pick a compression type. I usually choose “zipped” but I am not sure it matters.

9. Click “Go” and wait. It’s usually pretty quick but might take a few minutes. You might also have to choose where to save it and your desktop will be the easiest to find it.

That’s all there is to it. Your database will be exported and ready to be imported into the new host. It might seem difficult when you are just reading the steps but once you are actually doing it you will find it to be easy.

Now, how to import the database into the new host…

1. Login to your cPanel.

2. Go into mySQL Wizard and create a new database.

3. Add a new user onto the new database with all privileges.

4. Go into phpMyAdmin and click the “import” tab to import the database export into the new database you created.

5. Open up the wp-config.php which is in the root directory.

6. Edit the database name, database user, and database password to reflect the new changes you have made.

7. The blog should be working fine after you switch the nameservers of the domain to point to the new webhost.

You can use this as a reference if you are exporting or importing a WordPress database for yourself or for someone you just sold a blog to. You could also just send the new owner here so they can learn how to do it themselves.

There are many reasons why a person would need help selling their website or blog…

- Maybe they aren’t very good at writing up an auction that will sell, or they have never done it before so they don’t even know where to start.

- They might need money really bad and must sell their site now but they are new to site flipping and haven’t built up a reputation yet, so they want help from someone who has.

- It could also be that they simply don’t have time and are willing to pay someone a percentage to just do it for them.

…Or maybe they have another reason for needing help with their site flip.

Whatever the reason is, you can step in and sell it for them for some very easy money!

I recently sold a website for an online business acquaintance of mine because he needed the money fast and thought that I could sell it much faster than he could and get more money for it. He agreed to pay me 10% of whatever the site sold for. I calculated the value of the site being around $2500 so that’s what we decided to set the Buy It Now (BIN) at. Within two days we got a BIN bid and the site was sold.

The site owner handled the domain transfer, site transfer, answered all the questions, and everything else. He even paid the Sitepoint fees for listing the auction. All I did was write up the auction listing and sell the site. Although I did offer to handle the transferring of the domain and site files and would have done it, but he did it himself instead.

He sent me the $250 and it was done. That was about the easiest money I’ve ever made! And it was completely free money other than the hour or so I spent writing and listing the auction.

Flipping websites is a fairly easy way to make money online itself but this was even easier because I didn’t have to buy or build the site, or do much else.
